Arrival – An
Abstract of Inertia
Edgerunner Records, 2002
8/10
I haven’t heard before about this Finnish band but listening to its
album turned out to be a real pleasure. Nice black metal, varying between
mid-tempo and fast, with atmospheric interludes. There were moments
when they reminded me of Limbonic Art, yet with less electronic sound.
There is, however, an instrumental song played only on guitars and with
an absolutely meaningless keyboard at the end, causing a huge break
in the album’s flowing. That song should have never been recorded on
this album. The front cover is another weak point: quite uninspired.
Besides, I have already seen something similar on Moonspell’s
The Butterfly
Effect. But some of you may say it’s the music the matters. And the
music is, indeed, more than ok. www.arrival.cjb.net
