Insomnium is a Finnish Death/Gothic band. Their music is quite close of the early Amorphis albums. The same fragile melancholy behind a powerful and aggressive Death Metal style, the same fascination for Finnish poetry, literature and landscapes… If it wouldn’t be for this feeling of déjà vu, I’d appreciate them a lot more, cause they actually deserve it. Fluent compositions, almost classic arrangements, and a well balanced music. The production is a little bit rusty, also remembering of the old Amorphis. They seem also a little bit interested in the band image, and therefore the whole atmosphere of the album concludes where music and lyrics end…
