Opera IX - Maleventum
Avantgarde Music 2002
8/10

The first thing you notice about his CD is its presentation: nice cover, digipack format. This was not a big surprise to me as it came as a (logical?) continuation to their previous album. However, when it comes to music, things did change a little bit. First of all, we no longer have Cadaveria on vocals and one could easily notice the difference; she had quite an original way of singing black metal. As for the songs, they sound ok, only that I don’t think they have the same intensity and power as they did on The Black Opera. But that doesn’t make it a weak album. On the contrary, I think this is a band we should keep and eye on.
